Yeltsin Dies

"Boris Yeltsin, who oversaw the demise of the Soviet Union and became Russia's first president, has died aged 76, the Kremlin says."

Former President Boris Yeltsin engineered the final collapse of the Soviet Union and pushed Russia to embrace democracy and a market economy, and that is how I will personally remember him.

How history will record him, or perhaps more importantly how Russians will remember Yeltsin is another matter. There is no denying he was loved in certain circles, and loathed in others.

Due to the very purpose, and nature of this blog I thought it fitting that I remember him here.
