A popular British restaurateur, who claimed to serve the world's hottest curry, has passed away according to the BBC. I didn't know the man... but I like him. I also believe I saw a travel documentary that featured his restaurant. Here is a snippet from the BBC article:
Abdul Latif, offered the famous dish - Curry Hell - free to any customer who could finish it at his Newcastle diner.
The 52-year-old became a renowned local businessman thanks to his talent for publicity and regular appearances in cult adult comic Viz.
He died of a heart attack at his home in the city's Gosforth area in the early hours of Sunday.
Mr Latif's restaurant, which used to be called Rupali, enjoyed a high profile in recent years.
It features in the Guinness Book of Records for the world's longest-distance curry delivery - from Newcastle to Sydney.
I would have loved to have tried it. Rest in peace Abdul you will be missed.

Hubby forwarded me a CNN article earlier this morning in regards to electronic tombstones. Perhaps he figured that I would think it is a neat idea because I have gone on so much about wanting a digital picture frame for my desk. And if that is the case then he would be spot on because I certainly think they are a capital idea! Not only is the marker a simple recording of dates, and names with this you can include images, music, and even videos. Click on the link above to read more on this innovation in the funerary, and memorial business.

Hot on the heels of the Muslim teddy bear scandal is this rather disturbing product -> the huggable urn! "These bears are intended as a cuddly repository for a loved one's ashes," according to the BBC. I'm sorry, and I'm certain that some people may see this as a wonderful idea, but I honestly find it creepy! What do you all think? Do you think it will perhaps help people with the grieving process? Or like me are you creeped out by this?
Happy Shopping!

I was reading a news item this very morning that details how the majority of us are actually overburdened with debt. And this unfortunately can often lead to financial trouble. Timely to read this I thought to myself at this the busiest shopping time of the year.
Credit and credit repair are hot button topics with many consumers, and I am certain that many could benefit from the sound advice offered through ConsumerCreditDebt.org.
The ConsumerCreditDebt.org website provides information to consumers on tax debt, credit card debt solutions, and debt consolidation.
Have a look at the website by following through on any of the links I have added into this entry for you. Its absolutely worth it to your pocketbook, and peace of mind to become educated on credit repair strategies. ![]()

Such sad, and tragic news that Dame Roddick has passed on at the young age of 64 from a massive brain hemorrhage. If I could have had just one mentor in the business world of my own choosing it would have been her. A great lady, and a terrific company! Her life's philosophies, and business model thankfully live on in The Body Shop. Rest in peace Anita Roddick you will be missed......

Maybe it was the article I read earlier on Blogger Depression or maybe it is a bit of the end of the summer blues kicking in a bit early? Either way I started to feel a bit morbid this afternoon, and the question of what happens to a blog after the blogger dies started swimming in my head.
If something were to happen to me hubby has the keys so to speak to all of my blogs, and as a fellow blogger I know that he would at least put up an announcement letting the regular readers know that I had passed on, but what of bloggers that perhaps do not have this option?
I know that if one of my faves stopped blogging I would wonder what happened, and with the friendships I have built some with people on the other end of the planet I would worry, and I would want to know.
I wonder if maybe in this blogging age it might be a good idea to leave passwords, email contacts in a will?

Over the weekend I couldn't help but note the irony that former Torontonian Conrad Black was convicted of fraud on the same day that his old haunt Toronto was celebrating the life, and memory of another business mogul "Honest" Ed Mirvish. While the former will forever more be tainted no matter what the outcome of his appeals, the latter will forever be remembered as a beloved philanthropist, theatre impresario and friend to all including the poor of this city.
Here is a snippet from the Globe & Mail:
Ed Mirvish was remembered yesterday as a zealous businessman with a wicked sense of humour, a loving family man and an extraordinarily generous person who dedicated his life to giving back to his community.
Mr. Mirvish, better known as Honest Ed, was famous for unconventional promotions for his massive discount store in downtown Toronto, which continues to sell everything from socks and microwaves to religious statuettes and antiques.
Canada's theatre community remembered him as a white knight whose decision to restore the ailing Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto helped put the city on the musical theatre map -- in spite of Mr. Mirvish's claim that he knew nothing about acting.
Mr. Mirvish died Wednesday in a Toronto hospital at 92.
As hundreds of mourners solemnly filed into the Beth Tzedec synagogue yesterday, Toronto police and emergency services personnel lined the walkway, saluting as Mr. Mirvish's immediate family arrived.
Several dignitaries, including Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty, former premier Bob Rae, Ontario Provincial Police Commissioner Julian Fantino and NDP Leader Jack Layton, were also acknowledged by the honour guard.
Something to think about.....
Rest in peace Honest Ed, you are a person that did great things for this city, and someone we should all aspire to be more like.
Cheers!

"Boris Yeltsin, who oversaw the demise of the Soviet Union and became Russia's first president, has died aged 76, the Kremlin says."
Former President Boris Yeltsin engineered the final collapse of the Soviet Union and pushed Russia to embrace democracy and a market economy, and that is how I will personally remember him.
How history will record him, or perhaps more importantly how Russians will remember Yeltsin is another matter. There is no denying he was loved in certain circles, and loathed in others.
Due to the very purpose, and nature of this blog I thought it fitting that I remember him here.
RIP
