Thursday Thirteen #11 - Thirteen Phobias

Thirteen Phobias In Honour Of Friday The 13th

Since this week we will be having a Friday The 13th, and statistically speaking at least a few of you may be unsettled by it - this is called Triskadekaphobia - I thought it might be fun to list some common, and maybe not so common phobiaa, and their proper names. Here we go then....The Fear Of:

1. Nudity - Gymnophobia or Nudophobia.

2. Money - Chrometophobia or Chrematophobia. (Does some actually suffer this?!)

3. Outer space - Spacephobia. (This would be very bad for an astronaut)

4. Wet dreams - Oneirogmophobia.

5. Bees - Apiphobia or Melissophobia.

6. Eyes, opening one's - Optophobia.

7. Flying - Aviophobia or Aviatophobia or Pteromerhanophobia.

8. Dawn or daylight - Eosophobia. (This is very common in vampires)

9. Crosses or the crucifix - Staurophobia. (Another big issue in the vampire community, and the demoniacally possessed)

10. Places, crowded public - Agoraphobia.

11. Lawsuits - Liticaphobia.

12. Odors or smells - Olfactophobia.

13. Everything- Panophobia, Panphobia, Pamphobia, or Pantophobia.

I can only imagine that #13 would be devastating, and I would advise anyone suffering with it to seek help immediately! For the most part I think everyone suffers from at least one phobia to a certain extent. Mine is #5, although I do admit that it is not honey bees that I am afraid of, but wasps. They are nasty! However, I couldn't find a name for that one.

So what is yours? And if you tell me you are absolutely fearless, and have never had a single fear ever I will assume that A. You are lying or B. you are stupid. Fear in my opinion, held in check is a good thing, and in part what keeps most of us from getting nominated for a Darwin Award.

Get the Thursday Thirteen code here!

The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is encouraged! Haha, I didn't even know there was a word for #4! Interesting list, but complicated words!
My TT lists 13 things I can’t (or don’t want to…) live without.

Mine's being somewhere I might easily fall from and injure myself. Not quite vertigo since I can be in high safe places without a problem but an unstable low surface over somewhere hard can really make me nervous.

Spiders. I am afraid of spiders.

Bees! I hate bees. For a couple years wide open spaces (I live in South Dakota, we have lots of them!) made me cry for no good reason.

Fear of tight spaces with too many people... this gets really bad when I'm pregnant. I swear, I've walked up a lot of staircases instead of getting in a crowded elevator... not good right? But, on the bright side, it's good exercise!

I only have a problem with optophobia when my arachnophobia rears it's ugly head!

I suffer from claustrophobia, although I didn't know it until I had to have an MRI. Even then I was already in the machine before I realized it was like a coffin and I HAD to get out. Great TT list.

I have a weird phobia about stuff being tight around my neck like a turtleneck or a choker necklace. My best friend's mom who is all into "New Age" stuff is convinced that I died by suffocating in a fire in a previous life, LOL!

My DD is petrified of butterflies of all things!

Great list! Thank goodness I don't have any of these. I guess I would almost qualify for fear of flying. Just seems like a perfectly dreadful way to travel! (At least at present) Happy Thursday, and stop by if you're in the neighborhood. :)

Interesting list. Luckily I don't have any of these. I can't even imagine #13 - that would just be horrible.

Intriguing list. I have a fear of snakes, narrow tunnels, spiders (though not as bad as it once was) and, though I love to swim, any body of water where I can't see the bottom. ::shudder:: :-)

I'm seriously arachnophobic, and I'm probably close to phobic of bees and wasps.
I think people could truely not have phobias, phobias go beyond being scared.
I won't even touch a picture of a spider.

Phobias...well, spiders, maybe, though I can deal if I have to. *Hate* hair down the plug of a bath. And I'm scared of riding my motorcycle on diet.

I have two TT13s:
